ZACH MACH Adventure Challenge

8am on Saturday 26 April 2025

Choose your path, choose your team, choose your victory! ZACH MACH Adventure Challenge invites you to craft your adventure story. 4 x adventure stages covering a massive 90km of terrain in Mackay’s stunning Pioneer Valley.

Register as an individual, pair, or relay team. Opt for the stages that speak to your adventurous soul, conquer them, and stand tall as you compete for prize money in every chosen stage.

The only question remaining is: Which adventure will you choose?

  • STAGE 1 - MTB

Split into 2 stages: 1A and 1B, the Mountain Bike (MTB) ride traverses between cane paddocks before summiting at Teemburra Dam. Expect, dirt, mud, creek crossings & sweat!

Get ready to shred the trails at the Finch Hatton MTB playground! With twists, turns, and epic views, it's a mountain biking adventure you don’t want to miss!

  • STAGE 2 - KAYAK

On top of the world at Teemburra Dam with the ducks paddling beside you and the barramundi swimming beneath you, this glorious kayak leg will have you cruising out on pristine still waters.

Expect serenity, fresh air, mountain views, water reflections and cheering from Mackay Canoe Club and Kayaksnthings support crew.

  • STAGE 3 - TRAIL RUN

This is a trail run with a little bit of everything for the adventurer. Starting and finishing from ZACH MACH HQ.

Expect scenic rainforest, a bit of mud, water, sand and rocks. Prepare to get wet… really wet, the creek crossings can be deep - we will have one of our favourite support crews: the S.E.S. there to keep an eye on you!

  • STAGE 4 - ROAD CYCLE

The road ride unfolds on sealed roads, beginning & ending at ZACH MACH HQ. As you embark on these smooth roads, the cogs will grind and the cadence will surge.

Rolling hills set against the backdrop of historic cane fields, picturesque views, &, with a bit of luck, the absence of headwinds for an enjoyable ride.

Stage 1A will commence on the Mountain Bike from the corner of Pinnacle-Septimus Road (loading ramp) at the base of Captain's Crossing. Stage 2 Transition Area is at Teemburra Dam for the kayak, prior to Stage 1B Mountain Bike rolling back to the ZACH MACH HQ.

Please note: Stage 1 start line is from the Loading Ramp at the bottom of the Captains Crossing Road (bend in Pinnacle-Septimus Road), Mia Mia State Forest. Competitors are RESPONSIBLE for getting themselves to the start line. We highly recommend 'rolling' from Race HQ to the start line as there is no transport available to pick up vehicles after finishing. Rolling down to the start line is a good little warm-up prior to start of the race as competitors will encounter a climb straight up!

  • When you cross the finish line please ensure the following:

    • You and your team look awesome for the Finish Photo!

    • Enjoy the festivities and prize giving, and don’t forget to celebrate and share your war stories with other adventurers.
